**Boy Shot in Algonquin Neighborhood; LMPD Launches Investigation**
**Louisville, KY** – A young boy was hospitalized Monday evening after being **shot in the Algonquin neighborhood**, prompting an active investigation by the **Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD)**.
According to LMPD spokesperson **Dwight Mitchell**, officers responded to a report of a shooting around **6:45 p.m.** in the 1700 block of **Catalpa Street**, a residential area located in the heart of Algonquin. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found a juvenile male—believed to be under the age of 13—suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The child was transported to **Norton Children’s Hospital**, where he is currently listed in **stable but serious condition**, police said. His identity has not been released due to his age, and no further medical updates have been made public at this time.
Witnesses in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots, followed by chaos as neighbors rushed to assist the boy and call emergency services. One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said, **“It was terrifying. I heard at least five shots, then screaming. We’ve had violence before, but when it’s a child, it shakes the whole block.”**
