**48-Year-Old Man Killed in St. Matthews Apartment Shooting Identified**

Authorities in St. Matthews have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred late Sunday evening inside an apartment complex. Police confirmed Monday morning that the man killed was **48-year-old James Holloway**, a longtime resident of Jefferson County.

According to the St. Matthews Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Browns Lane just after 10:30 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Holloway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside his apartment. Despite immediate life-saving efforts from first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the shooting appears to have been an isolated incident, though the exact circumstances remain under investigation. “At this time, we have no reason to believe there is a danger to the wider community,” said Sgt. Michael Grant of the St. Matthews Police Department. “We are actively pursuing leads and interviewing witnesses who may have seen or heard something around the time of the incident.”

Neighbors described Holloway as a quiet man who mostly kept to himself but was friendly and well-liked. “It’s shocking,” said one resident. “This is usually such a peaceful neighborhood. To hear gunshots and then learn someone lost their life—it’s heartbreaking.”

Authorities have not yet announced any suspects or arrests, but they are urging anyone with information to come forward. Crime Stoppers has set up an anonymous tip line, and a reward may be offered for details leading to an arrest.

Holloway’s death marks the latest in a string of violent incidents across Jefferson County this year, prompting renewed calls from community leaders for greater investment in neighborhood safety and violence prevention.

Funeral arrangements for James Holloway are expected to be announced later this week.
