**UofL Student Arrested for Allegedly Attempting to Kidnap Employee on Campus**

The University of Louisville community was left shaken this week after authorities confirmed the arrest of a student accused of attempting to kidnap a university employee on campus grounds. The alarming incident occurred on Wednesday evening near one of the staff parking lots, prompting a swift response from campus police and city law enforcement.

According to investigators, witnesses reported seeing the suspect, later identified as a UofL student, approach the employee as they were leaving work. The suspect allegedly attempted to force the employee into a vehicle. The victim resisted and managed to call for help, drawing the attention of nearby students and staff who quickly contacted campus security. Responding officers arrived within minutes, apprehending the suspect before they could flee the scene.

University officials have confirmed that the employee did not suffer any physical injuries but was left understandably shaken by the ordeal. The university is providing counseling and support services to the victim and others affected by the incident.

Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) is working in coordination with UofL Police to investigate the suspect’s motives. Authorities have not yet released the student’s name, pending formal charges, but confirmed that the individual is being held at the Jefferson County Detention Center.

In a statement, UofL President Kim Schatzel reassured the campus community that safety remains the university’s top priority: *“We are grateful for the quick action of our campus police and the bravery of those who intervened. This type of behavior has no place in our community, and we will continue to take every measure to protect our students, faculty, and staff.”*

The incident has sparked renewed discussions around campus safety, with university leaders pledging to review security measures, including improved lighting, increased patrols, and awareness programs.
