SANTA CLARA: Though it’s very close, the 49ers do not go into their NFC divisional playoff round match in pristine health.
Due to a knee injury he suffered in the 49ers’ Week 18 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams, defensive end Clelin Ferrell will not play on
Saturday night. Against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night, Chase Young is anticipated to start and play the majority of the
team’s snaps.
Coach Kyle Shanahan of the 49ers said on Thursday that linebacker Dre Greenlaw is classified as doubtful because of Achilles
tendonitis. Greenlaw seems to be on track to participate in the game on Saturday.
With the exception of Ferrell, the 49ers anticipate having every player on their 53-man roster eligible to play the Packers.
George Odum, a key contributor to the 49ers’ special teams, will probably return to uniform as a backup safety. Odum didn’t play in a
game since Thanksgiving night due to a torn biceps, which required surgery.
Odum, an Indianapolis Colts special teams player who was selected to the All-Pro team in 2020, resumed practice last week. Shanahan
claimed he had received the all-clear to play.
Before Saturday’s game, the 49ers want to activate him from injured reserve.
“So, I was asked by everyone if I would be returning this week. Yes,” Odum stated in a message on social media. I’m returning this
week. Now let’s move! All-Pro, General, let’s move!
Odum’s first season with the 49ers, 2022, saw him selected as a second-team All-Pro.
Arik, the defensive tackle
Christian McCaffrey, a running back and one of the NFL’s best rushers, has received the all-clear. He missed the 49ers’ last regular
season game due to a slight calf injury.
