According to reports, Mercedes’ driver development director Jerome d’Ambrosio plans to join Ferrari, following in the footsteps of
Lewis Hamilton. The Italian constructor and the Silver Arrows driver are expected to pair up in 2025, ending the driver’s 12-year
association with the team that won six World Championships for him.
Following the news of Hamilton’s decision to go to Ferrari, a report from PlanetF1 clarified that the agreement included a no-poaching
clause that would, in theory, make it difficult for the 39-year-old to bring important Mercedes players to Maranello in 2025.
Fred Vasseur and the Ferrari hierarchy will undoubtedly target important individuals like racing engineer Pete Bonnington and
trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin, but they haven’t been persuaded to switch Brackley for Maranello just yet. But one
important person is about to take the big step.
D’Ambrosio will leave Mercedes at the conclusion of the 2024 season, following Hamilton out the door to Maranello, where he will
take over as director of the Ferrari driver development program, according to a report from Motorsport Nextgen Auto.
