Ahead of a pivotal Week 15 encounter against the Indianapolis Colts, the Pittsburgh Steelers are dealing with injuries
at the linebacker position. In an attempt to provide some much-needed depth at that position, the organization
promoted Kyron Johnson from their practice squad to the roster on Friday.
Stephen Thompson of SI reported the trade on Friday.
Due to a groin issue, outside linebacker Elandon Roberts is doubtful for the game in Indianapolis. Meanwhile,
defensive coordinator and middle linebacker T.J. Watt is still undergoing concussion protocol.
Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander, inside linebackers for the Steelers, are sidelined for the season due to injuries.
In terms of yards allowed per game (344.8), the Steelers defense is ranked 21st going into this Saturday’s matchup.
This year, they have given up 25 touchdowns.
Regarding this week’s game against the Colts, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin stated last week, “One thing is we
can’t be fragile.” “Indy will execute a few plays. It will be a hard and competitive game, and we must allow the past to
discourage us or detract from our will to battle. We must be really strong. We must have mental toughness. When
faced with hardship, we must grin. We always cherish those things, but we can’t take them for granted in light of a
few recent performances.
The Philadelphia Eagles selected Kyron Johnson, 24, from Kansas in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 181st
overall. Since joining the Steelers in October, he has participated in two games but has not yet contributed on the
field. During his brief time with the Eagles, Johnson recorded eight tackles in his career.
