The most enduring memory of Scot Pollard comes from his stint on Survivor. He did, however, formerly play for the Boston Celtics,
who won a championship in 2008. He has 11 years of NBA experience. But in recent months, those accomplishments haven’t meant
much to him or his family.
Rather, the six-foot-11 real estate agent has been fighting for his life. Pollard, 49, has a hereditary cardiac condition. His heart was
beating 10,000 times faster as a result of it. His condition was deteriorating quickly. Thus, although he and his family prayed for a
donor, he and his doctors decided that he would stay in the hospital, under the close supervision of his critical care physicians.
Pollard’s wife Dawn gave an update on his condition on Friday, February 16. The
“It’s time to go, Scot wanted me to announce to everyone that the pre-heart transplant hair has disappeared.” Dawn provided updates
on X, the old name for Twitter. “Please continue to pray for Scot, the surgeons, and the donor’s family, who recently lost a loved one.
We will always be indebted to this donor for giving us the most incredible gift of life.”
Since then, Dawn has provided more updates on Pollard’s recuperation. In one video, the former big man for the Celtics is shown
standing and walking.
Pollard’s road to a full recovery is probably going to be a difficult one. It is challenging to understand the hazards associated with heart
transplantation as well as the physical toll it must entail. Thankfully, he’s getting professional medical attention and
Pollard was a fierce competitor on the field. He was a troublemaker. He used purpose and physicality in his play. He was also blatantly
exhibiting the same characteristics while he was on Survivor. Because of this, it’s possible that he tackles his recuperation with the
same fervor, tenacity, and resolve that he has used to other area of his life. It won’t take him long to leave the hospital and get back on
his feet if he does that.
Thankfully, his social media presence will provide us all with regular updates on the situation.
