At the end of the current campaign, Leeds United will put a high premium on getting Daniel Farke a lucrative new contract, sources
have told Football Insider.
When he took over last summer, the 47-year-old signed a four-year deal that included a huge promotion bonus.
In addition, Farke is expected to receive an extension and a substantial salary increase if the team makes it back to the Premier League
on its first try, according to insiders.
In fact, since his arrival, the German has left such a lasting impression on Leeds’ American owners that he may be able to secure a new
contract even if the team is not promoted.
Leeds was forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with 10-man Huddersfield on Saturday, ending their hopes of achieving a club record 10
consecutive league victories.
As a result, they begin the week two points outside of the automatic promotion berths and in third place in the Championship.
Leeds manager Farke is expected to get a lucrative new deal.
Leeds has amassed a very respectable 73 points from 35 league games, enough for an average of 2.09 points per game during the
season.
In comparison, during his four and a half year tenure at Norwich City, he twice led the team to promotion, and his average points per
game there was 1.50.
The Whites have been playing well even though they lost at least 20 first-team players in the summer—the majority of their best
players went either on loan or permanently.
Like Southampton and Leicester City, two of their three primary Championship promotion rivals, Farke’s team has benefited from
Premier League parachute payments.
