2024 will be a pivotal year in the NSW Waratahs’ history.
Coach Darren Coleman is in his third year of leadership as they attempt to overcome their quarterfinal slump.

They need to pull it all together this year to return the trust displayed, but they have all the talent needed to make a long run in the playoffs.
In light of this, we examine the five main talking themes that the NSW Waratahs will be focusing on in 2024.
1. DC pressure
With this lineup, Darren Coleman can compete with the greatest in the finals. It’s time to put it on display.
Coleman took over a winless Waratahs team, but he has done an amazing job molding it and producing a number of important Wallabies.
He has acknowledged that they didn’t perform up to their high expectations in 2023, as they barely made it to the finals before losing badly in the quarterfinals.
The club will be under tremendous pressure to perform well as the fan favorite’s contract expires at the end of 2024.
2. The conflict with Tane
Tane Edmed will be attempting to lock down his position at flyhalf, but there are many talented players who are prepared to pursue him.
Despite a year marred by injuries and a back ailment, Edmed concluded the season as the starter.
Not very long ago, the Eastwood half was in the running for further honors, but he was trailing his old teammate Ben Donaldson, whose exit gave Edmed the opportunity to strengthen his position.
But he won’t
Bell played just 20 minutes in 2023, but he made a comeback in time to lead the Wallabies to a breakthrough international campaign that puts him squarely in the running to become the first prop to win the John Eales Medal.
The 23-year-old can affect the game in every aspect of the park, but if the Waratahs are to neutralize opponents up front, he must maintain his fitness.
Along with one Test Wallaby, Harry Johnson-Holmes, and Wallabies captain Dave Porecki, he forms the essential component of an underappreciated front row.
