The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Phoenix Suns 123-113 Wednesday night to go to 33-23 before of the NBA All-Star break.
Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington had participated in four games together since joining the Mavs, and both players have
demonstrated that they complement Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic well.
It’s important to acknowledge their defense and rebounding, since Washington is emerging as Dallas’ much-needed defensive stopper.
The Dallas Mavericks need to release three contracts in the offseason.
Even though the Mavs are in a wonderful position and have been able to cut a number of poor contracts in recent months, they may
still try to transfer some contracts this summer. Although they currently appear to have a competitive roster, anything can happen
rapidly.

3. Powell Dwight
The Dallas Mavericks were largely dependent on Dwight Powell prior to making a trade for Daniel Gafford. He was a nightly player
who even made eight game starts.
Powell hasn’t played much since the move, and his $4 million contract from last summer isn’t the best for a third-string center. He
hasn’t been performing at his best either this season, and it’s not ideal to give a player who isn’t in the rotation this kind of money.
Over the following few years, $4 million a year is not bad, but it’s also not wonderful. His talents aren’t as much of a necessity now that
Dereck Lively II and guard Gafford make up the Mavs’ powerful center combo. Although Powell’s play has deteriorated, he has started
more than 250 games for the Mavs in his career and would be sorely missed.
