With National Signing Day on Wednesday, the college football 2024 recruiting cycle will soon come to a conclusion. Seven of the top
25 overall recruiting classes in the country belong to the newly enlarged Big Ten. And while the two powers continue to distance
themselves from the rest of the competition, even though it may be far less than in the SEC, it is still the second-most in all other
leagues.
The Big Ten has a good chance of winning a national title again in 2024, following Michigan’s victory. This is due to a combination of
high-end incoming recruits and transfer portal additions. The 2024 high school recruiting class includes five five-star players who will
play next season in the Big Ten. Nine of the top 12 prospects on the transfer portal were committed to Big Ten programs, meaning the
league cleared out the majority of the top players.
So, for each of the 18 clubs in the enlarged Big Ten, who are the most important transfers and recruits to be aware of?
The most significant recruit and transfer for each Big Ten program in 2024 are listed below:
Only 17 freshmen will be attending Northwestern in Evanston for the 2024–2025 academic year in David Braun’s first recruiting class.
Following the dismissal of longtime head coach Pat Fitzgerald in June, the Wildcats lost a few key players, but they also put together a
haul that might be essential to establishing long-term success at Northwestern. Schaller leads the Wildcats’ class as a high-three-star
edge rusher from Northbrook (Ill.) Glenbrook North. He can play tight end and do it at a high level as well. A transfer portal objective
has not yet been added by Northwestern.
