Leeds United can maintain their current winning streak by defeating Preston North End at home on Sunday afternoon in all
competitions. The Whites have already swept to three consecutive 3-0 wins in January.
In their most recent Championship meeting, the Yorkshire team easily defeated Cardiff City, with a return-to-form Patrick Bamford
opening the scoring for the third straight game in the Welsh capital.
The news this week that teenage sensation Archie Gray has inked a new “long-term” contract at Elland Road—a move that should
hopefully deter any potential suitors who are keeping an eye on the 17-year-old—has only served to increase the positivity surrounding
Daniel Farke and his charges.
The adaptable young player is expected to start at right-back for Ryan Lowe’s team tomorrow lunchtime, continuing his position in the
starting XI after the recent contract extension. Farke is unlikely to make many changes to his starting lineup.
A few weeks ago, in the loss to Preston, Illan Meslier was sent off after yelling at Milutin Osmajic. The young Frenchman will be trying
to avoid a repetition of that.
After serving a three-game ban, the 23-year-old returned to duty with ease last weekend against Cardiff, needing to make only one
stop in that convincing victory, according to Sofascore.
After making 28 appearances across all competitions this season, the highly sought-after star has solidified his position as a crucial
player under Farke. He might round off a fantastic week with another strong performance tomorrow.
But he will have to do better than he did against Lowe’s team, since he only won three of his previous 14 possessions.
Since joining Leeds from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, Joe Rodon has established himself as a dependable member of the
defense, defying the adage that loan players shouldn’t fall in love.
As a member of Farke’s Welsh core team, the former Swansea City player has excelled so much that the team is supposedly close to
signing him on a permanent basis, a move that would be very highly received at Elland Road.
One change that Farke could make is to bring back seasoned captain Liam Cooper. The former Norwich City manager revealed that the
Scotland international is probably going to be eligible for selection again after missing a recent period due to injury.
Although there have been rumors that the 32-year-old and Luke Ayling may be departing the team soon, Ayling said the £25k-per-
week star is still a true “rock” in the back and may still have some playing time left before the season ends.
The injury-prone full-back was substituted late in the game against the Bluebirds, but it is anticipated that he will be ready to play
again because of a dead leg.
Sam Byram, who is back, should definitely not replace the former Barcelona player, who just helped out twice in the convincing victory
against Birmingham City.
