Prior to the United States Grand Prix qualifying round on Saturday, it was revealed that Dietrich Mateschitz, the founder of Red Bull,

has passed away at the age of 78. To announce the death, Christian Horner called a meeting of the Red Bull squad in the Austin

paddock.

It had been stated that Mateschitz had been gravely unwell for some time. But nothing came to light because the CEO of Red Bull was

renowned for shunning the spotlight. Since then, the team has verified these reports. According to the announcement, Mateschitz had

lost his fight against a protracted, grave illness. Mateschitz established Red Bull’s global reputation and long-standing connection to

motorsport.

He realized his aim of owning his own Formula 1 team in 2004 when he purchased Jaguar Racing, which he later renamed Red Bull

Racing. He did the same shortly afterward with the Minardi team, which he renamed Scuderia Toro Rosso after purchasing it from

Paul Stoddart along with his close friend and former Formula One driver Gerhard Berger.

The rest is history: Red Bull Racing, first represented by Sebastian Vettel, had tremendous success in Formula One. With the team, the

German won the world championship four times in a row. It was that time again in 2021 and 2022 when Red Bull’s Max Verstappen

won the world championship twice in a row and the squad was cruising toward the constructors’ championship.
