Max Verstappen left his opponents in Bahrain with no chance. The Dutchman won the first race by a commanding 22-second
advantage over Sergio Perez. Leclerc and Russell’s major issues allowed the 34-year-old to easily take second position.
Because Red Bull was so good, everyone else had to compete for second place. Red Bull’s reserve C3 (soft) compounds were used much
more easily due to the lower temperatures than during the tests. This ensured considerably greater leeway in terms of tactics and
application.
All things considered, it is obvious that substantial progress will be required in order to catch up with Red Bull.
He still has a sizable lead in race trim right now. His RB20 had no flaws and concluded with a comparable
He was faster than everyone else by more than five tenths of a lap on average. Despite facing minimal opposition, Sergio Perez was
able to secure a 1-2 result for Red Bull.
Ferrari is reasonable in Bahrain, however the SF-24 might work better in Jeddah.
It was confirmed that Ferrari was Red Bull’s closest rival in Bahrain. Leclerc and Verstappen had a strong start from the front row. But
he started having serious issues with brake heat on the first lap.
This race was frustrating to me. Particularly in turns nine and ten, I struggled to stay on the road and had brake issues.
Leclerc stated, “We could have been more competitive and had a good pace.” In Maranello, an analysis will be done to determine the
nature of the issue.
The #16 car’s front axle’s balance was jeopardized by this malfunction. This was extremely expensive on a layout that relies heavily on
the brakes, particularly when fuel is scarce.
The data gathered also showed that Leclerc’s performance in the first 15/20 laps was six tenths of a second slower than what his SF-24
was capable of. This was expensive in terms of strategy and track position.
“He struggled with it the entire race. Fred Vasseur stated, “We have to make sure that nothing like this occurs again.”
“Clean races are required.”
Due in part to his car’s reduced weight, the Ferrari driver was only able to regain some rhythm in the final stint.
The Ferrari team principal is not entirely happy with the outcome, even though P3 and P4 were the final results:
Although we could have done better, we have at least closed the 50% difference in this instance. We are all beginning over with an
entirely new layout in Jeddah.
For the Arabian track, Ferrari has already opted on a more laid-back setup. The medium-low load rear wing specification that the
Scuderia will deliver is particularly efficient in profile.
This ought to enable the SF-24 to imitate a portion of Red Bull’s effectiveness.
