Since signing Hugh Freeze as their head coach last year, the Auburn Tigers have gained ground in the recruiting
process. The good news for Auburn doesn’t end there, as the Tigers have landed two 5-star players in the No. 7 Class
of 2024.
Defensive lineman Antonio Coleman, a class of 2025 recruit, announced to On3 Sports that he was switching his
pledge from the Auburn Tigers to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Coleman, a 4-star talent from Saraland Spartan, the 6A state runner-up, had committed to Alabama back in
September, but on Friday he changed his mind and chose to play for the rival Tigers.
At 6-foot-2 and 285 pounds, he is ranked as the 13th best defensive lineman overall and the 10th best player in the
state of Alabama for the 2025 class.
Due to his departure, Alabama will have seven commits in the upcoming class but will still have the No. 2 class early
in the following cycle. Interestingly, the Auburn Tigers, who have eight commits in their No. 3 class, are directly
behind the Tide in the upcoming cycle.
Ryan Williams, Coleman’s teammate from Saraland, is a little factor to take into account with his flip. Williams, a
classmate of Coleman’s, plans to sign with Alabama in February after pledging his commitment to the Crimson Tide.
Could the wide receiver decide to come to The Plains and change his mind because of the defensive lineman’s
influence?
The Class of 2025 won’t officially sign until twelve months from now, but this competition in recruiting will be
interesting to watch as the Tide and Tigers compete to attract the in-state prospect.
