In the offseason, the Baltimore Ravens need to address a number of issues.
Notably, the running game isn’t one of those problems.
They will have a large number of free agents on the defensive side of the ball, and Mike Macdonald’s departure to take a head coaching
position with the Seattle Seahawks could be a significant influence.
According to NFL analyst Craig Carton, they shouldn’t pursue Derrick Henry as some people think they should in light of those and
other noteworthy important areas.
The Baltimore Ravens are the only team that is not in need of Derrick Henry. Carton stated that “what he brings to the table doesn’t
suit what they do offensively.”
Right now, the Ravens are the clear favorites to sign the standout player from the Tennessee Titans.
He does, however, highlight the reality that Henry isn’t as effective when he receives less than 15 touches per game, and the Ravens
aren’t going to consistently give him 20+ touches.
Henry only performs at his peak when the defense is fatigued, according to Carton, and he only gains three yards per rush on days
when he isn’t prominently involved in the running game.
Last season, the Ravens made a commitment to developing Lamar Jackson as a pocket passer, and it was a complete success in the
regular season.
They also boasted a strong group of running backs, with several players succeeding on the ground in spite of their lack of stardom.
