This week’s game against the Carolina Panthers provides an opportunity for the Green Bay Packers to get back on
track. With a 6-8 record, the Packers’ chances of qualifying for the postseason are slim. The squad has a very strong
chance of winning if they close off games, but lately it seems unlikely that they will win three in a row (again).
That winning run of three games, though, might have just gotten a little more difficult. especially when it comes to
the attacking end of the ball.
Right present Jayden Reed is dealing with a toe injury. Despite dealing with chest and ankle problems, he has
participated in all four of the Packers’ games since November 21st, despite suffering his third different injury. The
child is resilient.
One of the toughest players on the Packers’ offense, Reed is developing rapidly. The number of ailments he has
endured and the quality of his play throughout are truly remarkable.
But damage to the toes are a different story. Even though the two ailments might not be related at all, it’s important
to remember that Davante Adams missed over a month of action in 2019 because to turf toe.
Christian Watson would undoubtedly be the best response if he is able to recover from his hamstring issue. But this
club has another young wide receiver who is making rapid progress. Since Christian Watson (hamstring) missed the
Buccaneers game for the second straight game, Wicks had the busiest day of his short career to date. Wicks
completed 97 yards on six of seven targets, including three 20-yard or longer plays with quarterback Jordan Love.
I anticipate Wicks having an even bigger part in the Packers’ offense if Reed is unable to play. It’s obvious that he
deserves Jordan Love’s faith. The wide receiving group for the Packers has had a difficult season due to injuries.
