Both metaphorically and physically, the Iowa Hawkeyes received a major boost this summer with the transfer of Kadyn Proctor.
Proctor played for the Alabama Crimson Tide during his freshman year, but Iowa was able to lure him “back home”. Proctor, a five-
star offensive lineman from Des Moines, Iowa, signed with Nick Saban after ranking first in his class (2023) and being a five-star
overall.
Despite being a standout left tackler for 13 games and a member of the All-SEC freshmen team, Saban’s retirement forced the 6-foot-7,
360-pound monster to seek elsewhere, which was bad for the Tide. Given Iowa’s propensity to produce offensive lineman suited for
the NFL, Iowa City made the most sense, but it appears the Hawkeyes had an advantage in persuading Proctor to
According to Scott Dochterman, Iowa is “self-reporting” that Proctor violated a Level III improper contact policy. When he was still
with the Tide in September of 2023, it appears that he received a text from an assistant coach.
Even while it may seem insignificant in comparison to a suspected espionage network that steals signs, it is nonetheless improper
communication, particularly when tracing Proctor’s path back to Iowa.
Naturally, the Iowa employee didn’t exactly have a strong point at the moment. The timeframe indicates that he was most likely
messaging Proctor following Alabama’s 34-24 defeat to Texas, a team that would go on to win the College Football Playoffs. From then
on, Alabama won 11 straight games and qualified for the CFP.
