His contract with Kansas City was terminated because, according to his agent, the Kansas City Chiefs are signing former Buffalo Bills
punter Matt Araiza.
The signing was initially reported by ESPN.com. The contract’s terms were kept a secret.
“I’m happy and proud to have signed a contract with the Chiefs. Araiza released a statement saying, “I am thrilled to be able to
continue my NFL career.” “I would like to express my gratitude to my family, who have always supported me, and to all of my friends,
who have never wavered. I am thrilled to be joining the Super Bowl Champions for the next chapter of my career!
A woman who claimed Araiza had sexually assaulted her and two other people had done so sued Araiza.
December saw the woman withdraw the claim, and Araiza consented to have his defamation lawsuit against the accuser dismissed as
well. According to Araiza’s lawyers, the woman is not receiving any payment from their client in exchange for the lawsuit being
dropped.
Two days after the civil lawsuit was filed, in August 2022, the Bills released Araiza.
The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office declared in December 2022 that Araiza would not be prosecuted in the case.
Playing for San Diego State, Araiza, who is currently 23 years old, was chosen by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft.
Araiza was a first-team All-American and the recipient of the Ray Guy Award, which goes to the finest punter in the country, during
his junior year with the Aztecs.
