Potential Issues with Trading for the Pittsburgh Steelers…….

Although a trade involving the Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is undoubtedly a solid fit, there are risks involved in moving

for him, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have been strongly linked to the quarterback.

Pittsburgh Steelers Have Potential Problem In Trading For Justin Fields

Fields’ contract will come into sharper focus if the Steelers were to acquire him from the Bears.

ESPN’s Aaron Schatz concurred that the Steelers must acquire Fields through trade this offseason. Fields should go for a decent price

because the Bears intend to sell him in order to choose a quarterback with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Even though the Steelers have openly supported Kenny Pickett, Fields is clearly the superior quarterback with a larger ceiling. His

capacity as a dual threat should

Schatz did point out that the Steelers would need to decide on Fields’ fifth-year option swiftly if they were to acquire him. They will

have to pay him if they want to take that option and he excels as an exceptional quarterback in Mike Tomlin’s scheme.

About the need for the Steelers to trade for Fields, Shatz wrote the following:

“Fields did have a better QBR last season (46.1 to 38.2) than Kenny Pickett, but that was mostly due to his rushing prowess. Fields

hasn’t improved all that much as a passer over the past three years. He takes too many sacks and mixes too many routine mistakes

with his standout plays. But here, upward is the problem. Fields still has greater potential than many

“The issue with Fields is that, should he improve, you’ll need to sign him to a large contract in two years, and you’ll have to make a

decision quickly about whether to extend him with a fifth-year option. Still, that benefit is alluring. Pickett lacks the same style and

grace.

For what it’s worth, though, a lot of specialists and pundits think Justin Fields would work well with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to recent comments made by former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum, the Steelers would be better suited signing

Fields than Kirk Cousins should both players become available.

The Steelers don’t appear to have decided yet what to do about their quarterback problem, though. Russell Wilson has been

considered as a possible addition to Fields and Cousins.
