In a statement posted on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, tennis superstar Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus broke her silence on the
passing of former hockey player Konstantin Koltsov.
When the Miami-Dade Police Department announced that Sabalenka had passed away from a “apparent suicide,” the former
Pittsburgh Penguins star was scheduled to compete in the Miami Open. It is stated that she is still scheduled to compete in the
competition, but she is not anticipated to speak with the media.
“Konstantin’s death is an unthinkable tragedy, and while we were no longer together, my heart is broken,” she wrote in a letter. “Please
respect my privacy and his family’s privacy during this difficult time.”
When Koltsov passed away, the No. 2 ranked tennis player was no longer dating him, according to a story published in The Telegraph

The Miami-Dade Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital on Tuesday that “on Monday, March 18, 2024, at approximately
12:39 a.m., Bal Harbour Police and Fire Rescue were dispatched to the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, 9703 Collins Avenue, in
reference to a male that jumped from a balcony,” according to investigators.
“The Homicide Bureau of the Miami-Dade Police Department responded and assumed control of the investigation into Mr. Konstantin
Koltsov’s apparent suicide. There is no suspicion of foul play.
42-year-old Koltsov was a Penguins player for 144 games between 2002 and 2006. He was a coach in the Kontinental Hockey League
with Salvat Yulaev. The group’s home base was at Ufa, which is about 832 kilometers east of Moscow.
