Sergio Perez had a difficult time keeping up with his Red Bull Racing teammate and the reigning champion, Max Verstappen, during

the 2023 season. His subpar performance in the Qatar Grand Prix, when he finished considerably behind Verstappen, served as a stark

reminder of this. Not only that, but Perez frequently trailed Verstappen by an average of 6 to 7 tenths of a second during the pre-

season testing sessions.

Even with his improved performance from the previous season, Perez still finds it difficult to match his teammate’s speed. However,

Checo has been doing admirably during the last several races, and the team is taking note of this. Team manager Helmut Marko

discussed Perez’s abilities in spite of reports that he did not receive his

Before the Australian Grand Prix began, Helmut Marko spoke about Sergio Perez’s development throughout the previous campaign.

Everyone has been observing that Checo has consistently trailed Verstappen’s P1. With a car that is easy to drive and keeps other

drivers from assaulting Max Verstappen, the Mexican driver has it easy with the RB20, which is by far the best vehicle on the circuit.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Helmut Marko discussed Checo’s role at Red Bull, according to a story from Formel1.de.

Sergio Perez has long been regarded as a capable partner and has been a major factor in several of Max Verstappen’s victories, most

notably the Dutchman’s maiden championship victory. Perez is an excellent driver who can hold off the rest of the grid as Max

Verstappen keeps pushing harder in the race, as evidenced by his demonstration of his ability to defend against other races. Red Bull

does have a B squad, but this season’s drivers Ricciardo and Tsunoda don’t seem to be doing all that well. Can they, however, really

take Checo’s place?
