SO SAD: Checo Pérez has been deeply impacted by the loss of his mother……..

October 29, MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – After his chances of winning a home grand prix on Sunday were dashed by a collision with

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc at the first corner, Mexican driver Sergio Perez acknowledged he took a chance and will try again.

Under pressure following a run of bad form, the Red Bull driver attempted to pass around the outside but made contact, getting tossed

up and onto the run-off with damage to his sidepods. He drove his automobile back to his retirement pit.

“I am aware that I took a big risk today but I forgot about the championship and I forgot about everything else, I was only thinking

about winning today,” Perez stated to reporters.

The Mexican continued, “For me, a podium in Mexico would not have been enough; today I wanted to win and when I had the chance,

I risked it and maybe risked too much, but I would do it again. I didn’t think that Leclerc was going to brake so late because he was in

the middle and I had already passed him.

According to Formula One, 400,639 people attended the event over three days, setting a new record. The majority of them attended to

support a hometown hero who had declared the race to be his most significant of the season before the weekend.

At the sound of the national anthem, Perez had stood tall and strong, but soon the applause gave way to angry sobs.

When triple champion Max Verstappen passed the Monegasque on the inside, the Red Bull driver quickly moved up from fifth and

attacked Leclerc on the outside.

Booed at the finish, Leclerc claimed he had “nowhere to go” after finishing third in the race.

“Unfortunately, I touched Checo when I was a little in between the Red Bulls. Life goes on. “Unfortunately, I broke my car, which put

an end to the Checo race,” he stated.

Christian Horner, the CEO of Red Bull, claimed that it was a racing mishap.

“You can’t hold Perez accountable for attempting to take the lead in the Grand Prix at his home race. He is quite emotional, and it’s a

difficult moment for him in front of his home audience,” the British man continued.

Perez’s lead over Hamilton had shrunk to only 20 points, but he was still second in the championship standings.

According to Horner, the Mexican, who has a contract through 2024, did not need to finish second overall to be on the team the next

season.
