The former, adored coach of the Boston Celtics will make his triumphant return to the city on Saturday night when the team takes on
the Houston Rockets.
On November 21, 2015, he made his on-field debut in the Bulldogs’ 23-17 victory over Georgia Southern in Athens, Georgia.
Que gained notoriety in 2019 after the 1,600-pound bull, Bevo XV, the living mascot of Texas, almost ran him over.
After the 2022 season, Que retired, making way for Boom, the current mascot. Since 1956, when Uga I’s reign began, the Seiler family
has been the proud owner of the Bulldogs’ present line of pure white English bulldogs. On game days, the dogs live in air-conditioned
dog homes on the field and wear jerseys and spike collars.
According to the school’s athletics website, Georgia is the only major university that hides its mascots “within the confines” of its
stadium. The first eight bulldogs of the institution are interred in marble vaults close to the south bleachers’ main gate at Sanford
Stadium.
Prior to Uga I’s tenure, the school had four bulldogs and a goat as mascots from 1892 until 1955. In April, Boom, also known as Uga
XI, was unveiled as the new mascot.
