has been found guilty of assaulting a lady and given a six-month probationary period.
According to online court documents, Jackson Mahomes, 23, entered a guilty plea to a single misdemeanor count of battery during his
video conference appearance for his sentencing hearing on Thursday. Jackson Mahomes was given a sentence and is now under the
custody of the Johnson County Sheriff’s office, which will decide if he is qualified for work release.
The sentencing took place more than two months after Jackson Mahomes was accused of grabbing a woman by the neck and kissing
her without her will inside an Overland Park, Kansas, restaurant in February 2023. The prosecution had previously dropped three
felony charges for aggravated sexual battery. According to a court document, the woman’s lack of cooperation led to the dropping of
those more serious allegations.
Investigators stated that Jackson Mahomes shoved a waiter who attempted to enter a room where he and the woman were, in
response to the outstanding criminal battery charge.
Once the accuser—the restaurant owner—refused to appear in court, prosecutors withdrew the criminal charges. Following the
charges, the woman claimed to have received death threats, harassment, and vandalism at her eatery. In August, she shuttered the
eatery.
Jackson Mahomes is not the Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ only family member to have been afoul of the law recently. On
February 3, Patrick Mahomes Sr., a former Major League Baseball pitcher and the father of an NFL player, was taken into custody in
Texas on suspicion of driving under the influence.
