After suffering a difficult defeat to Texas A&M at College Station this past Saturday, the Kentucky Wildcats now stand at 12-3 on the
season. The game’s plot for the UK? Both offensive and defensive rebounds were permitted.
To be very honest, this team’s whole season has followed this plot point up to this moment. They have a top-notch attack, but is there
room for improvement in defense? And could they maybe quit giving up so many offensive rebounds and scoring opportunities on
second chances?
When the NCAA basketball season approaches its halfway point, John Calipari and his team will need to struggle to find an answer to
that issue.
At fifteen games into the regular season, the defense’s argument is not helped by the statistic showing how many times they have
allowed 80 points or more in a single game. This Cats club has surrendered 80 points or more in seven of its games this season. Corey
Price of the UK Sports Network reports. This is a figure not seen since the 1990–91 campaign.
It’s not a good company to be in, considering Kentucky had a postseason ban for two years running.
Overall, I get the impression that this may be a double-edged sword. Although this team’s defense won’t be the best in the league,
opponents playing Kentucky will probably have at least ten extra possessions each game.
All things considered, the Cats must figure out how to make some stops in close games. The upcoming games against Georgia and
Mississippi State will have excellent chances.
