ASHBURN, Illinois When the assistant coaches met with the media on Wednesday, they declared that it was a new day for the

Washington Commanders.

Fans of the Commanders will recognize a number of familiar faces on the 2024 coaching staff, including Ryan Kerrigan and Darryl

Tapp, two former Washington linebackers.

Other noteworthy additions are former quarterback David Blough, who finished his playing career after the 2023 season, former

cornerback William Gay, and former coach Anthony Lynn of the Los Angeles Chargers.

During interviews with media, a number of assistants gave incoming coach Dan Quinn high marks for his collaborative spirit,

leadership skills, and adaptability.

“It wasn’t a difficult decision when Danny got the job,” said Lynn, who is joining the team as the run game coordinator and running

backs coach. “Because I believe that we are closer than most people realize.”

Quinn brought in coaches from teams in the league as well as his prior stops.

Quinn was the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys during the previous offseason, and Gay, Floyd, and Joe Whitt Jr. When

Quinn and Tapp were in Seattle in 2009, Quinn was Tapp’s defensive line coach. However, Quinn has never worked with other arrivals

like Lynn and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.
