In the days before Thursday’s draft, the San Antonio Spurs, who own the top pick to select Victor Wembanyama, are frantically trying
to get their hands on another lottery pick.
“There are rumblings that the Spurs are exploring trades for a second lottery pick,” according to The Ringer. “I’m not sure how high
they are trying to get, but rival executives speculate that they’re targeting one of the Thompson twins or Wembanyama’s own
teammate, Bilal Coulibaly.”
A 6-7 wing who turns 19 next month, Coulibaly has been shooting up draft boards lately as more people have been paying attention to
Wembanyama and Metropolitans 92 throughout their playoff run, which concluded Thursday with a Finals whitewash against
Monaco.
As a wing in the modern NBA, Coulibaly is the ideal size. He is regarded as one of the better defenders in the draft and is capable of
guarding several positions. Furthermore, he has enormous potential considering his early age.
A number of teams, including the Dallas Mavericks at No. 10 and the Orlando Magic at No. 11, may try to trade out of the lottery.
