Leeds United will play Huddersfield Town on Saturday in an attempt to continue their incredible run in the Championship and
recover from their FA Cup loss at Chelsea. The Whites have won their past nine league games, and if they can secure a 10th straight
victory, they will have a chance to briefly close the gap on league leaders Leicester to just three points.
Naturally, the fact that this weekend’s matchup is a Yorkshire derby heightens its significance, and Daniel Farke is aware that his team
will face a formidable opponent in the Terriers, who have won three of their previous five games. In anticipation of that match, here
are a few of the most recent headlines.
Expect somber conversations
Max Wober of Leeds United is a free agent that Borussia Monchengladbach would like to sign permanently this summer. After the
Austrian international’s season-long loan ends this summer, the Bundesliga team is reportedly preparing to take steps to guarantee his
long-term future, according to Gladbach Live and Fussball Transfers, via Sport Witness.
With Gladbach this season, Wober has performed admirably, making 20 appearances while contributing three assists and a goal from
defense. Sadly, his outstanding play hasn’t been enough to keep the team from languishing in the lower half of the league, but the team
is already making plans for the upcoming season and Wober is one player they want to target.
Given that Wober has three seasons remaining on his Elland Road contract, it is acknowledged that he wouldn’t be cheap, but the
German team isn’t giving up.
‘Target’ release date specified for January
Paul Dummett, a defender for Newcastle United, was linked to Leeds United during the January transfer window, and it appears they
will get the chance to sign him this summer at no cost. As Dummett’s term at St. James’ Park draws to a close, Joel Bland of Newcastle
reports that he won’t be extended, opening the door for a summer move.
Despite the injury crisis the team faced early in the season, Dummett has made just four appearances in all competitions under Eddie
Howe’s direction. The 32-year-old has played his whole career for Newcastle, but Leeds is searching for a full-back, and he might be
able to help.
