Orr has been crucial to the team’s defensive success for the last seven years, having played for Baltimore for six of those years under
Coach John Harbaugh. He was an important part of Roquan Smith and Patrick Queen’s selection to the Pro Bowl as the inside
linebackers coach; Smith was named to the first team of the All-Pro team, while Queen was named to the second team.
Orr, a former player with the Ravens, has completed a full circle. He was an undrafted rookie linebacker in 2014, but before he became
a starter, he made a name for himself as a crucial special teams player. Regretfully, a congenital ailment affecting the neck and spine in
2017 ended Orr’s playing career, leading him to switch to coaching.
Orr’s teaching abilities were demonstrated while he was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars in
Head coach John Harbaugh highlighted Orr’s status as a “homegrown Raven” while applauding his enthusiasm, work ethic, and
communication abilities.
Orr’s elevation was also endorsed by the team’s previous defensive coordinator, Mike Macdonald, who said, “Zach is destined for great
success.” Savor your time with him now since he will be this league’s head coach in the future. The players will play with unity and
passion, giving it their all.
Notwithstanding the team’s defensive successes, Orr still has obstacles to overcome, including as the possible free-agent departure of
important players. The Ravens defense created history by leading the league in DVOA, sacks (60), takeaways (31), and points per game
allowed (16.5) during the regular season.
Fans of the Ravens are excited to watch how Orr continues to mold and improve the team’s defensive capabilities in the upcoming
seasons when he takes over as defensive coordinator.
