A happy Christmas?

There will be ten games on Christmas Eve and three more on Christmas Day, giving fans a full weekend’s worth of

football action to look forward to in Week 16. The National Football League is fully committed to holiday “cheering”.

Starting with the now-customary Thursday night game between the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints,

which has two 7-7 teams vying for a postseason spot, it seems like an elimination game.

But this is where we’ll be mainly focused because a number of former Crimson Tide athletes from Alabama are

expected to have some exciting holiday weekends. Though it isn’t precisely the Twelve Days of Christmas, you get the

idea:

1. When searching for Alabama players during the Saints-Rams game, avoid straining your eyes. The Rams’ only

active player is long snapper Carson Tinker, while tight end Miller Forristall was just added to the practice squad.

Though these are excellent stories, we don’t think the broadcast team for Amazon Prime will give them any

consideration.

2. Cleveland (9-5) at Houston (8-6) is one of few games that should have a significant impact on the playoffs.

DeMeco Ryans, a former linebacker for the Crimson Tide, deserves a serious consideration for coach of the year if he

can lead the Texans into the postseason.

3. Amari Cooper, the wide receiver, could be the most important player in the same game. He just finished with 109

yards, which is his fourth game over 100.

4. The quarterback C.J. Stroud of the Texans is not anticipated to participate for the team playing the Browns. To tie

Mac Jones (3,801 in 2021) for the fifth-most passing yards by a rookie in NFL history, he needs just 171 more passing

yards.

5. Two of the 4-10 Washington Commanders’ bright lights have been defensive linemen Jonathan Allen and Daron

Payne. It was Allen’s fourth touchdown of the season when he recorded his tenth tackle for a loss last week. Payne

has 12 tackles for a loss this season and recorded his third career game with two sacks.
