Sean Dyche acknowledges that he is unaware of whether Everton may face more charges for violating Premier League financial
regulations.
On Monday, the Toffees will find out if they stand to lose further points due to profit and sustainability regulations. Everton is
currently waiting anxiously to see if they have any further issues, since they have already appealed a 10-point deduction following a
first charge.
“We simply await the news,” Dyche remarked following his team’s goalless draw with Aston Villa. “As you are aware, the news was
unexpected the last time; we’ll have to wait and watch whether it happens again. Before you know, you don’t know. I’ll provide further
details if and when the information is received.
Everton had to exert significant effort to maintain the point, which puts them back one place above the bottom three. However, they
were left to lament Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s lost opportunity as he went one-on-one with Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez.
Since the end of October, Calvert-Lewin has been without a goal in 13 games. “We created good chances, and especially one golden
chance for Dom,” Dyche stated.
“I brought him up to date. He’s drawing nearer. Does he perceive it in that way? When I force it down his throat that many times, he
will comply. Don’t worry, by the end of the week, he’ll be like a robot. In addition to a few other opportunities, we had the greatest
opportunity of the match. We’ll accept the point and the clean sheet overall.
Aston Villa’s draw, however, was “not enough,” according to Unai Emery, as the unexpected Premier League championship hopefuls
were defeated at Goodison Park.
After 97 games, the Villa manager saw his team held by a spirited Everton team, which resulted in his first goalless draw as a manager
in the tournament. Villa now trail leaders Liverpool by two points as a result of the draw.
“It is not enough [points] now with how we are facing the table because we prepared the match thinking to win,” stated former Arsenal
boss Emery.
“We generated opportunities and dominated the game to deserve to win, even if we gave up a few chances.
We attempted to play in the same manner for the last fifteen or twenty minutes, and we never went crazy. We made opportunities, and
this is how. Our performances are becoming better. We are playing with the appropriate flair and confidence.
Due to an injury, Jacob Ramsey was unable to play for Villa. “We play Chelsea [in the FA Cup] in two weeks, and hopefully his pain is
not too much,” Emery continued.
