On Wednesday, the Miami Dolphins made changes to their practice squad and announced the addition of Justin

Ellis, a defensive tackle in his tenth year, while also letting go of safety Verone McKinley III.

The Oakland Raiders selected Ellis, 32, in the fourth round of the 2014 draft. He played for the Raiders throughout

his rookie seasons, recording a career-high 42 tackles in 2017.

Ellis joined the Baltimore Ravens in 2019 and played with the team for almost three years. He was given a one-year

contract by the New York Giants in 2022, and in Week 13, the former defensive tackle for Louisiana Tech secured his

first professional sack by taking down Taylor Heinicke of Washington.

Ellis was signed by the Atlanta Falcons on July 28, 2023, however he was cut on August 26 and remained a free

agent until signing with

During the 2022 season, McKinley made 10 appearances for the Dolphins, starting two of them. On May 13, 2022, he

signed with Miami as an undrafted college free agency out of Oregon, and he recorded 16 tackles and one

interception.

going into the season because Miami had not used the fifth-year option on his contract, which was slated to expire at

the end of the season.
