After spending time on the practice squad, veteran cornerback Kindle Vildor has signed with the Detroit Lions to the
active roster, adding strength to their secondary.
The Lions made a number of changes on December 5, as Justin Rogers of the Detroit News reported. Defensive
tackle Tyson Alualo and offensive lineman Matt Farniok were added to the practice squad, and defensive tackle Alim
McNeill was placed on injured reserve.
According to Rogers, the Lions were accustomed to Vildor aligning himself with an NFC North opponent against
them.
“Vildor, who was selected in the fifth round by the Chicago Bears in 2020 after being selected out of Georgia
Southern, has made 22 starts in his professional career, mostly as an outside corner,” Rogers said. “He was most
recently on Philadelphia’s practice squad and played for the Tennessee Titans for a portion of the previous season.”
Lions’ Secondary Is Serious About Its Injuries
With two of the largest offseason additions, Vildor will have the opportunity to provide some seasoned depth to a
secondary that has had several significant injuries. Security In his first game back after rupturing his ACL in his
opposite knee the previous season, cornerback Emmanuel Moseley suffered an ACL rupture, while C.J. Gardner-
Johnson was sidelined by a season-ending tear to his pecora muscle.
Following Moseley’s injury, Campbell stated that he was not overly concerned about the secondary, in part because
of Jerry Jacobs’s excellent play and Will Harris’s versatility as an outside linebacker.
Campbell remarked, “That group back there is pretty smart.” They now know how to collaborate with one another.
Once more, having Cam Sutton has been a huge assistance. We can play many different strategies with him since he
is a man in whom we have a great deal of faith and trust. He has served as our dependable man there.
Lions Provide Support for the Defensive Line
The Lions made a few more moves this week that are intended to strengthen the defensive line, even though Vildor’s
signing will benefit the secondary. Alualu gives the team experience, and if they decide to bring practice squad
standout Quinton Bohanna into the starting lineup, they might get even more support.
After using all three of his practice squad elevations, Mike Payton of AtoZ Sports projected that the Lions will sign
the third-year defensive tackle to the active roster.
