There will be a huge hole in the starting lineup opposite Deonte Banks if veteran CB Adoree’ Jackson leaves the New York Giants in
free agency this offseason. Banks will be the main cover guy for Big Blue, but bringing in a seasoned cornerback to the starting lineup
will be a top goal in free agency.
One of the best cornerbacks available this offseason is a notable performer from the Giants’ division. Kendall Fuller, a fellow NFC East
player, is set to become a free agent and may decide to depart the Washington Commanders in search of fresh opportunities. By
signing Fuller, the Giants would add another dependable cornerback to their starting lineup and address a critical need.
Could CB Kendall Fuller be a free agent signed by the Giants?
Fuller is about to enter the
Fuller has been one of the NFL’s best cornerbacks for the entirety of his career. For the Commanders, Fuller primarily lines up as a
boundary cornerback, but as PFF notes, during this later phase of his career, some teams might be open to moving him back inside:
“Fuller was the lone bright spot in the Commandersโ cornerback room in 2023, and while he is plenty capable as a wide cornerback,
perhaps his prior experience in the slot and at safety could be attractive to teams that desire the ability to move the savvy veteran
around as he and his game ages.”
Fuller played nickel cornerback for the Commanders and the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018 and 2019, respectively, earlier in his career.
The Giants could benefit from
Based on an average yearly salary of $14.1 million and a three-year contract valued at $42.35 million, Spotrac forecasts Fuller’s market
value. Fuller would be a headline signing for the Giants in exchange for a deal that would use up most of their salary cap room.
Fuller is still a guy New York should think about pursuing this offseason, despite the steep price tag. With the ability to play outside
cornerback, nickel cornerback, and free safety, he is a dependable experienced starter. If the Giants were to sign Fuller this offseason,
he would be a valuable addition to their defense.
