The Dallas Cowboys are undergoing a lot of transitions, particularly in terms of defense.
For the foreseeable future, the Cowboys’ nemesis, the Washington Commanders, will be seeing their former defensive coordinator,
Dan Quinn, twice a year as their head coach. In addition, he appointed Joe Whitt Jr. as Washington’s new defensive coordinator and
secondary coach for passing games.
Quinn was a major factor in the Cowboys defense’s turnaround, as they allowed 29.6 points per game in 2020. When he was the
defensive coordinator for the Cowboys, the defense finished in the top 10 in terms of points allowed, coming in fifth in 2023. In
addition, the Cowboys tied for 12th place in turnovers and seventh in total yards allowed. He
Dan Quinn expressed his gratitude to Coach Mike McCarthy, Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, and the whole Dallas Cowboys organization
for the last three seasons. “In a very short period of time, the players, coaching staff, and everyone else in the organization became
family.” Although Adam, the ownership group, and I have a big task ahead of us, we’re all working together to reach our goal of
regularly contending for Super Bowls year after year.
A few former teammates, Dante Fowler Jr. in particular, may be spotted on the Commanders’ sideline alongside Quinn as a number of
Dallas Cowboys prepare to test free agency.
Quinn and Fowler have a long history together. He mentored the former Florida third overall pick and then played for him with the
Atlanta Falcons. After a while, Quinn guided Fowler to the Cowboys, where he spent two seasons with 10 sacks.
For Fowler alone, going to the Commanders makes sense. He is undoubtedly a preferred personnel selection, and Dallas’s next
coordinator might not feel the same way. Having said that, Fowler has been a valuable addition, and the Jones family remains the one
constant in their recruiting.
Is Joey Bosa a trade target for the Dallas Cowboys?
There have been several whispers regarding possible trades and free agency since Jerry Jones said he was going “all in.” Is it possible
for the Cowboys to make a serious attempt to sign Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa?
Though it is improbable, Nate LeJoie of Bleacher Report thinks the Cowboys are “desperate” enough to investigate. Bosa’s trade worth
is estimated by the NFL analyst to be a first-round pick. Would Dallas be open to trading Bosa to the Chargers for the No. 24 pick?
“I believe Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones could figure out the finances for Bosa,” LaJoie said in a live Bleacher Report segment on
February 15, 2024. “Get his money in the form of an initial large bonus or whatever.”
LaJoie keeps arguing why it’s not impossible that Joey Bosa will end up in Dallas.
“In comparison to the other scenario we’re discussing, I believe they may lower his cap to between $10 and $12 million. Therefore,
Dallas might be a very, very reasonable place for him, in my opinion. I don’t believe that many teams will be pursuing him. They seem
to be in a desperate situation right now. The Dallas Cowboys’ desperation is well known, right? Heads will roll if they don’t win a
playoff game this next season.
Bosa’s contract has an out this offseason for the Chargers, but Jim Harbaugh, the new head coach, probably wants to keep the star.
