Observations
Nick Saban may be looking to add an offensive star to the Crimson Tide after Alabama football signed defensive
player LT Overton through the transfer portal.
Former five-star wide receiver Evan Stewart signed up through the NCAA transfer portal. In the top-ranked 2022
recruiting class, he decided on Texas A&M.
As a rookie, Stewart caught two touchdown passes and led the Aggies in receiving yards (649) and receptions (53)
respectively. This season, he has 38 receptions for 514 yards and four touchdowns. Stewart has participated in
Southeastern Conference championship games. Jameson Williams from Ohio State was removed by Alabama from
the transfer portal for 2021, and it proved to be a wise decision.
Williams led the Tide to an SEC Championship and the College Football Playoff National Championship Game with
79 catches for 1,572 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns.
Isaiah Bond, Kobe Prentice, Kendrick Law, Emmanuel Henderson, Jalen Hale, Malik Benson, and Jaren Hamilton
are all back for Alabama, although Jermaine Burton will be gone after this season due to the NFL Draft.
Additionally, it lost Thaiu Jones-Bell to the transfer portal and Ja’Corey Brooks to Louisville. We’ll see what
happens, but Saban needs to at least think about bringing Stewart’s knowledge into Alabama’s wide receiver group.
