With the 2022–2023 NBA regular season still in progress and the 2023 postseason still to be played, Silly Season might still be a ways
off. However, we should treat the trade rumors that have been circulating from Texas lately extremely cautiously. Specifically, there
are claims that Jaylen Brown, a great forward for the Boston Celtics, is considering leaving the team, possibly to join the Houston
Rockets.
John Granato, the radio anchor of ESPN 97.5 Houston, reported as much this week. Granato said on his program “The Bench” that he
had obtained “some insight into the Rockets organization” with respect to their short- and long-term goals.
“They will bring in veterans, that much is certain. “I’ll tell you this,” he said, ostensibly offering his insight based on the information he
had learned from Houston. “There will be a lot of talk about Jaylen Brown.”
Granato opined, “He wants out of Boston,” without clarifying if this was his own view or something he had heard from sources. “It is
equivalent to Harden.”
Granato also alluded to Ime Udoka, the former head coach of the Celtics, perhaps leading the Rockets. The Celtics should take the
possibility of a Brown defection seriously, regardless of whether he has truly heard anything concrete about Brown and Houston.
To be able to offer the Georga native a supermax extension that would make his future plans clear before he hits free agency, the
organization must work tirelessly to ensure that he makes All-NBA this season.
