The season ended in a devastating way for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Missed opportunities and poor execution
characterized an overtime loss to Michigan. We have witnessed an additional influx of players accessing the transfer site following numerous bowl games this past weekend. Shazz Preston, a wide receiver from Alabama and a previous Top 50 recruit, declared he is using the transfer portal.
Shazz Preston, WR, leaves Alabama via the transfer portal.
Preston was ranked sixth among wide receivers and 50th overall in On3’s 2022 recruiting class. They are probably searching for another program because, like many young players, they are not getting enough playing time. Due to the depth at wide receiver, Preston saw the field primarily on special teams. Without a doubt, numerous programs will take a close look at the gifted receiver in the portal.
Need To Play Recruits More Immediately?
Preston’s lack of playing time prevents him from being the first player to enter the portal. Top freshmen from the larger programs are using the gateway because they know they can obtain playing time elsewhere and transfer again if desired. Will coaches begin to face pressure to
start playing their best recruits earlier in an effort to try to keep them in the building? It will be fascinating to watch as this appears to be a standard practice in college football.
In 2024, is Alabama able to reclaim its position as the world’s best college football team? Even though it’s never simple to navigate the SEC, Nick Saban is constantly in the mix.
