Is Tommy DeVito Tom Brady’s successor?
Naturally, it’s far too early to say for sure or to even genuinely ask that kind of inquiry. However, after DeVito
assisted in leading the New York Giants to a victory over the Green Bay Packers on “Monday Night Football,” a
reporter made an attempt to question Brian Daboll about it.
Daboll interrupted the reporter before he could ask his inquiry.
“We’ve played four games,” Daboll remarked. “Thank you for the question,”
At the time Daboll joined the New England Patriots, Brady (the 199th selection in the 2000 NFL Draft) was starting
to establish himself as a regular. He collaborated closely with the seven-time Super Bowl victor and saw firsthand
how he helped New England win six titles.
Undrafted and a third-string quarterback, DeVito made his debut following the injuries to Tyrod Taylor’s rib cage
and Daniel Jones’ placement on injured reserve. Even after the Giants activated Taylor off of injured reserve, he has
occasionally impressed and given them cause to be optimistic about him.
The narrative surrounding the 25-year-old’s Italian family and his heroics in guiding the Giants to three straight
victories has been entertaining to watch.
With all that Brady has accomplished, though—a potential Hall of Fame quarterback—it is difficult to compare
anyone to him. The Giants’ only goal right now is to remain in the playoff hunt.
Next Saturday, when the Giants visit the Saints in New Orleans, DeVito will try to give New York its fourth straight
victory.
