The throwback matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Las Vegas Raiders has nothing to do with the outfits.
With 1:57 remaining in the fourth quarter, Minnesota defeated Las Vegas 3-0 thanks to a 36-yard field goal by Greg
Joseph. This was the first time a 3-0 outcome has occurred in an NFL game since 2007.
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ 3-0 victory over the Miami Dolphins in the 2007 season marked the last time the league had
a 3-0 championship. In the NFL, this is just the second 3-0 championship since 1993. With a 3-0 final, this was the
seventh Super Bowl game in history to do so (no game has ever ended with fewer points).
In the Super Bowl era, the Vikings are the only club with several such
When giving up three scores or fewer, teams had won 251 straight games, according to John Breech, senior NFL
reporter for CBS Sports. The Raiders finished with just 202 yards of offense (the Vikings had 231) and as many first
downs as punts (eight).
The Vikings and Raiders would have faced off in
the first scoreless tie going into overtime in NFL history if Joseph
had missed that field goal attempt (overtime was established in 1974). The NFL’s final scoreless tie occurred in 1943.

Raiders-Chargers Is More Sensitive to Time
The Las Vegas Raiders will have just four days to recover and get ready for their second game against the Los Angeles
Chargers on Thursday Night Football following a 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings at home.
The Raiders’ offensive production was dismal, as they managed only 202 yards of total offense on a day when their
defense was doing admirably.
They will now play their adversaries in the AFC West once more, a team who defeated them 24-17 at SoFi Stadium in
Week 4. Aidan O’Connell, a rookie quarterback, made his first career start in that game and performed passably.
Following their Sunday losses, the Raiders and Chargers are now both 5-8. One of the hottest teams in football, the
Denver Broncos, defeated the Chargers 24-7.
Star quarterback Justin Herbert may not play for the Raiders due to a fractured finger on his throwing hand. Ian
Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Herbert will have an MRI to see out how much time he will miss and whether
he can play again this season.
The Raiders would probably turn to backup quarterback Easton Stick, who threw for 179 yards in relief, if Herbert
missed time. In Week 4, Herbert had a poor game. He only threw for 167 yards, one touchdown, and one
interception.
The Raiders’ inability to sustain their offensive line was a problem in their opening game against the Chargers. The
Chargers sacked O’Connell seven times, six coming from former Raider Khalil Mack
For the Vikings game, the Raiders were without left tackle Kolton Miller, and it was noticeable since O’Connell was
under constant pressure. He was hit five times and sacked four times. Miller’s return is necessary for the Raiders to
withstand the Chargers’ formidable pass rush.
Over the past two weeks, the defense has performed admirably, but the offensive production has lagged behind. In
order to overcome the Chargers and save their season, the Raiders must play complimentary football.
In this game, the Raiders and Chargers will both be playing with their backs to the wall. With only a few weeks
remaining in the season, a winning divisional game may do wonders for the winning squad, while the losing team
drops even farther down the standings.
