The New York Giants’ choice to stick with undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito at quarterback could cost quarterback

DeVito. He has performance bonuses and playing time in his contract. If he starts the last five games, he could
potentially receive an extra $1 million in compensation…
The announcement was made last week that DeVito would start for the Giants in place of Taylor against the Green
Bay Packers in Week 14 on “Monday Night Football.” The former Pro Bowler was cleared to return from injured
reserve one week ago, but he hasn’t played since sustaining a rib cage injury against the New York Jets in Week 8.
Taylor said last week that he was “disappointed” not to be starting for Big Blue again and said he had four broken
ribs when he was hurt.
Daniel Jones, the team’s primary starter, tore his ACL against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 9, and will miss the
remainder of the season due to the injury.
Before taking a bye in Week 13, DeVito helped lead New York to victories in Weeks 11 and 12. He has started the
team’s last three games. The G-Men’s chances of making the postseason are (barely) intact thanks to their wins;
according to the ESPN Football Power Index, they have a 0.2% chance of making it to the field.
Taylor completed 57-for-87 (65.5%) for 579 throwing yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in seven games
(three starts) when substituting for Jones early in the season. He also added 22 rushing attempts for 98 yards. Out of
his 105 pass attempts, DeVito has completed 66 for
