As they battle Southampton for the winger’s signature in the Championship, Leeds United is supposedly getting closer to acquiring
Manuel Benson from Burnley.
On Sunday, Daniel Farke’s team overcame a goal behind to claim a thrilling 2-1 victory over Preston North End.
At Elland Road, the visitors seized the lead after only two minutes when Will Keane, from five yards out, diverted a miss-hit effort into
the net.
However, four minutes later, Daniel James leveled the score with a well-floated cross that he headed in at the back post.
Deep into stoppage time, Joel Piroe’s 12-yard conversion gave the home team the lead once again.
Farke will be aware of the significance of this victory and eager to add some reinforcements in January to bolster their promotion
campaign in the second half of the season, because they are playing for automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
Football Insider claims that the team is nearing the acquisition of Burnley’s Benson, a winger who is also being monitored by
Southampton.
According to the report, Leeds is negotiating a season-long loan agreement with the 26-year-old, who will provide the team much-
needed depth.
This month, Wilfried Gnonto may leave Elland Road since West Ham is rumored to be interested in the Italian winger.
