When Celtic plays St Mirren in the Scottish Cup, they’ll have a larger supporter base than normal, which might cause problems for the
host team in terms of segregation.
According to Scottish Cup regulations, the visiting team must receive 20% of the total tickets for the game. The STMiSA stadium can
hold 7,937 people.
Celtic supporters were granted admission to both stands at the STMiSA until two seasons ago. However, in their previous three trips,
just 1,493 tickets were granted to Celtic supporters, who occupied the North Stand.
The problem arises from Celtic’s entitlement to an extra 100 seats in order to comply with competition regulations.
St. Mirren loses some stadium capacity due to segregation, and part of the remaining three stands must be ceded to Celtic.
Viaplay Sport will most likely broadcast the game live on February 10 or 11, and negotiations over ticket costs and availability will take
place between the two teams. Police Scotland will also likely be engaged.
