Ed Lee, a product of the University of Rhode Island, was an inspirational tale during his time with the New England
Patriots during the previous offseason. Now, he will try to make an impression in the Canadian Football League.
On Wednesday, the BC Lions signed six wide receivers, including Lee. The 24-year-old is anticipated to participate in
the Lions’ training camp prior to the XFL season, having also inked a non-binding letter of intent with the Orlando
Guardians of the XFL.
For the undrafted wide receiver, signing with New England at the team’s minicamps was a “dream come true.”
Although Lee left a lasting impact on both Mac Jones and DeVante Parker during the summer, his time in the NFL
was curtailed in August.
After spending three years as a player at URI, Lee was named to the Second Team All-CAA as a receiver and the
Third Team as a punt returner during his redshirt senior year. At the end of his college career, he had eight
touchdowns and 1,262 yards from 86 receptions.
This season, the Lions went 12-6 and took second place in the West Division. They were defeated by the Winnipeg
Blue Bombers in the division finals. The Lions’ preseason schedule is anticipated to begin on May 25 with the 2024
CFL regular season will begin on June 9.
