The Washington Huskies and Texas Longhorns are getting ready for their College Football Playoff game. However,
because of the timing of the college football schedule, they also have to deal with the transfer portal. Kristopher Ross,
a gifted edge rusher, left the program via the transfer portal.
For the Longhorns, Ross didn’t think much of the field. He just recorded two tackles in his rookie year and just one
this year. With an elbow injury, he was taken off the field on September 16 and he never returned. Most likely, he is
moving to enjoy a change of environment. There are a plethora of reasons why athletes choose not to participate, and
in certain cases, it’s best to move on.
2024 Prospects
I don’t think this is a big loss for Texas. Although it hurts to lose the younger prospect, Ross wasn’t playing much on
the field anyhow, and Texas probably won’t have any problems luring talent to the program. In 2024, the Longhorns
will join the SEC, which presents several new obstacles. Now, a sizable number of teams who could realistically
contend for the conference in 2024 will have to contend with them.
Will the Texas Longhorns win a national championship to cap off their 2023 campaign? Even though it will be
difficult, they just need two victories to reclaim their position as the best in college football.
