In 2023, San Francisco’s backup quarterbacks were Sam Darnold and Brandon Allen. However, both will become unrestricted free

agents in the upcoming weeks, which is the reason Bleacher Report suggests Tyrod Taylor of the New York Giants make a move.

The report from February 19 says, “The 49ers aren’t going to ignore the backup QB role after losing Purdy to injury in the 2022 NFC

title game.” A seasoned veteran capable of taking over and carrying out Kyle Shanahan’s offensive

It would be great if needed. If Darnold is not re-signed, the 49ers should think at high-caliber backup quarterbacks like Tyrod Taylor

and Jacoby Brissett.

The 49ers are bound to act in this manner, just as they did the previous season. Although Darnold was a good insurance policy, if he

decides to try his luck somewhere else, they could have to find another quarterback.

Taylor and Brissett are both excellent choices, but they are very different quarterbacks. Taylor’s slightly more adaptable style works

well with 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offensive scheme.
