Jacques Villeneuve, a Formula 1 winner, thinks Lewis Hamilton could experience a comeback when he joins Ferrari in 2025.
Following the 2024 season, Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will no longer be affiliated with Mercedes, as the seven-time world
champion has inked a long-term deal to join Scuderia Ferrari beginning in 2025. The 39-year-old driver’s competitiveness and energy
level, however, are questioned. Villeneuve speculates that Hamilton would benefit from a change with Ferrari.
Hamilton appeared to be very at ease throughout his five seasons with Mercedes. During that time, he won four titles without any
opposition from his partner. But Villeneuve thinks that during their first season together in 2022, Russell gave Hamilton a wake-up
call. According to the former Formula One champion, Hamilton needed to match his new teammate’s enthusiasm to be a standout in
the sport. The seven-time world champion so fared better versus Russell in the previous season. Villeneuve now hypothesizes that in
2025, Ferrari might give Hamilton the jolt he needs to return to his carefree demeanor. Hamilton signed a $430 million contract with
Scuderia Ferrari, calling his transfer there a “childhood dream.”
Ever since the 2022 restrictions were put into effect, the seven-time world champion has found it difficult to fight at the front of the
grid. Actually, 2021 was Hamilton’s most recent triumph. Given Mercedes’s current position behind Red Bull and Ferrari, it appears
that Hamilton will miss out on a championship for another year.
Villeneuve considers the idea of Hamilton competing for Ferrari to be intriguing. The Canadian is hoping that after joining the
Prancing Horse, the seven-time world champion will get back to his winning ways. Hamilton might feel refreshed as he starts a new
project with Ferrari.
Hamilton will surely have high expectations for the upcoming Ferrari season. But for the time being, the seven-time world champion’s
main goal is to leave Mercedes on a positive note.
