When Michigan played Maryland in game 11, they were in excellent health. Just two Wolverines players were listed
as injured, but La’Darius Henderson, the starting left guard, was one of them.
Sherrone Moore, the Wolverines’ interim head coach, stated that he thinks Henderson would return the following
week against Ohio State after the Wolverines defeated Maryland 31-24 on Saturday.
“LD [La’Darius Henderson] was working through something, he’ll be back next week,” Moore informed the media.
On Saturday, Moore started Myles Hinton at LT in lieu of Henderson. Hinton was enjoying his expedition until he
had an injury, and it seemed like he was in excruciating pain when he was lying on the ground. He managed to stand,
but it didn’t seem like he could bear much weight on his right knee.
Moore stated that Hinton’s knee did not sustain any structural injury. However, he has faith in every O-lineman who
could play. Following Hinton’s departure, Moore moved Karsen Barnhart to left tackle and placed Trente Jones at
right tackle.
“Myles got a little knee — ended up no structural damage or anything,” Moore stated. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Trente Jones and Karsen Barnhart were aware—and I mentioned this earlier in the season—that ten offensive
linemen would be necessary to win the entire game and accomplish our goals. Everyone was ready, and Trente
performed admirably when he entered. He’s a starting-caliber player, therefore there was no budget for who would
go in, so everyone had complete faith in him when he did.
Hinton was not the only Michigan player to sustain injuries during the game over Maryland. J.J. McCarthy
connected with Roman Wilson, his top target, for a 23-yard gain in the first quarter. Wilson headed straight to the
locker room and the medical tent after a Maryland defender hit him high and was called for targeting. However, the
penalty was later overturned and Wilson was not found to have been targeted. Wilson was spotted on the sidelines
wearing street clothes after leaving the locker room.
Coach Moore informed the press that the trainers had ruled Wilson out. Wilson appeared to be in a good mood,
though, and appeared content to be watching his colleagues from the sidelines.
“Obviously, was out, not sure the exact knowledge of what it is, but the trainers ruled him out at that time,” Moore
stated. It was the appropriate action for us to do as a staff. They always stay on top of things, particularly when they
involve the head. Afterward, he was on the sidelines with us and all was well. Next man up, other guys need to step
up. With Big Ten football, that is the situation. It’s physical; such things do occur. The other boys stepped up and
performed admirably.
Michael Barrett, a linebacker, had minor injuries as well. Following the match, he was spotted wearing a wrap
around his left shoulder. Reporters were informed by him that he had an
