After coming to a comprehensive agreement on a record-breaking deal for £1.2 million, Man City is expected to finalize the transfer of Leeds star Finley Gorman, sources have told Football Insider.
The 15-year-old is rumored to be joining the Premier League powerhouses after months of talks with the Championship team.
The Citizens and the Whites had reached a complete agreement for the superstar, as Football Insider reported last month (15 November), but the deal is now scheduled to be finalized.
The seven-figure offer, which sets a record transfer cost for a 15-year-old attacking midfielder, has been accepted by Leeds.
Gorman will sign a scholarship at the Etihad that will eventually turn into a professional contract once he reaches the age of 17.
The young player left Elland Road, much to Daniel Farke’s dismay, and lengthy negotiations were made in an attempt to convince him to stay with the team.
The young player, who saw the Premier League champions’ cutting-edge training facility, made up his mind to transfer, but Pep Guardiola’s team worked hard behind the scenes to get him.
Gorman, who is regarded as one of Leeds’ top young talents, has made five appearances in the Premier League for the under-18s this year, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
This season, he has also played for England’s under-16 team, making his debut at this level at the age of 14, and earning starts in friendlies against Italy and France.
Leeds defeated second-place Ipswich Town 4-0 on Saturday, December 23, to take third position in the second tier.
Following their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace, Man City is now tied for fifth place in the Premier League. On Wednesday, December 27, they take on Everton at Goodison Park.
